Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a click system floor and a tongue & groove?

Both of these floors are floating floors, but they connect in different ways. If you're not sure which type of floor you have, don't worry - our Squeaky Floor Diagnostic Treatment can fix both types, as long as the floor has grooves.

Click Lube and Groove Gasket both work on Click System floors. Why two products for the same floor?

While both products work on click system floors, they address different parts of the problem. Click Lube fixes the bottom of the profile, while Groove Gasket solves the problem at the top. We recommend starting with Click Lube and then using Groove Gasket if necessary.

Is Squeaky Floor Diagnostic Kit safe to use?

Yes, our diagnostic kit is non-flammable, odourless, and free of harmful chemicals.

I used your Squeaky Floor Diagnostic Treatment and the creaking didn't go away. Why?

Our diagnostic kit is designed to help you determine the cause of the problem. If the treatment doesn't work, it could mean that that the creaking is coming from the subfloor, underlay or that the floor has not been installed properly.  Another issue can be the quality of the floors machined surfaces. Very often persistently creaky, cracking floors are the result of a mismatch between the female and male components of the interlocking sections of floor.

Why should I spend money on this when WD-40 works just as well?

WD-40 is not a safe or effective solution for fixing squeaky floors. It can be harmful to wood and laminate floors, and it's flammable. Our products are safe and effective for fixing squeaky floors.

How long will the results last?

The duration of the results depends on the type of floor and the cause of the creaking. Most customers only need to use our products once, and the results last for many years.

Will this work on stairs?

No, use our Stop Squeak Repair Kit instead

What if the creaking returns after using this kit?

The squeaking returning is just part of the diagnostic process.

Fixing squeaky floors is a process of elimination and we start from the top and work our way down.

When we treat floors half the time we expect the creaking to return which is why we have other products to treat those floors. There is no silver bullet here, just patience and process.

If creaking returns (and depending on your subfloor) either the Floor-Fix Pro adhesive or Stop Squeak Screw Kit would be the next step.
